History and culture: Exhibition of greeting cards and calendars of the early XX century "New Year Without Borders" in the Leningrad region

Exhibition of objects from the private collection of Vadim Kustov "New Year Without Borders" is open until January 22, 2016 at the Museum-Estate "Christmas" (Leningrad region).

At the exhibition, visitors will learn about Christmas traditions in different countries. The museum is historically associated with the family of Anglophile Nabokovs, you will see the Christmas cards of early XX century, published in Germany, France and the United States, as well as German, calendars, magazines for children and adults. Many Christmas traditions: Christmas trees, Christmas decorations, Christmas cards, came to Russia from Germany through one of the large foreign diaspora of St. Petersburg and the Russian Empress of German origin. Germany was one of the founders and the world's largest publisher of greeting cards, which have gained popularity and soon appeared in Russia, and congratulations on many postcards show that they were sent to the Germans who lived in St. Petersburg. However, immigrants from Europe took Christmas traditions overseas.
