History and culture: The exhibition of works of Vasily Nesterenko "Our Glory - Russian Power!" In Moscow

From February 10 to March 3, 2017 at the Central Manezh in Moscow is taking place the retrospective anniversary exhibition of the People's Artist of Russia, member of the Russian Academy of Arts Vasily Nesterenko, timed to the 50th anniversary of the artist and the 35th anniversary of his creative activity.

Vasily Nesterenko is the recognized leader of contemporary Russian art. He received widespread fame by his historical paintings and temple paintings.

The name of the exhibition "Our Glory - Russian Power!" fully reflects the career of the artist, his goals and objectives, artistic and emotional orientation of his works. Russia - this is the main theme of the exhibition and the entire work of Vassily Nesterenko. The basis of the exhibition - historical works devoted to the key moments of Russian history.

The theme in the artist's history is closely connected with the spiritual painting. He recreated the enormous mural of Christ the Savior, painted many churches in Russia and abroad. By the 1000th anniversary of Russian monasticism on Athos Vasily Nesterenko painted the temple of the Holy Great Martyr and Healer Panteleimon. Numerous sketches and cartoons paintings, a whole series of works on spiritual themes are presented in the Manezh exposition.

It is also presented landscape painting by Nesterenko. The works, devoted to the nature of the Urals, Siberia and the Far East, are combined in a cycle called "Milestones". A series of works, "Oh, Russian land!" - the anthem of Central Russia, with its poetic nature, churches and monasteries. 

Among the heroes of portrait works of Vasily Nesterenko there are the characters of past epochs and heroes of our time. Historical portraits of Prince Pozharsky, Ivan Susanin, Peter the Great, Catherine’s Companions, the Grand Duchess Elizabeth Feodorovna, and Patriarch Tikhon side by side with images of our contemporaries. These are famous figures of Russian culture and science, representatives of the clergy, women's and children's portraits. 

The still lifes of Vasily Nesterenko are also of interest. He came up with his historical view of the still life, which in addition to the substantive elements of the plan often includes landscape, interior, and often half-figures of people.

Thus, the exhibition presents the artist's works, made over the past few decades in all genres of painting. A large number of works are on display for the first time to a wide audience.
