Museums of Russia: The Novgorod Museum-Reserve enriched its fund with unique collection of toys

The Novgorod State United Museum-Reserve has been enriched with a new fund - a unique collection of toys, mostly covering XVI - XXI centuries and representing all continents. This is the largest acquisition of the museum over the past decade", in the collection - almost 16 thousand exhibits.

Collection of toys of the Novgorod Museum-Reserve will be unique for Russia and one of the most representative in the world. There are games from China of the V century, and the old shadow theater Wayang Purva from Indonesia (the only such collection in the world), a collection of toys from Africa (the traditional, made of palm leaves, up to date, out of tin cans and wires), as well as 17 Russian folk crafts, many of which have now been lost.

The collection includes the collection of folk toys, author's artistic toys, industrial toys from almost all countries of the world, and a private collection of toy in the USSR.

Collections have been collected in the private Museum of Toys in St. Petersburg. Currently, there is their transfer. New exhibition in the museum is planned to be open for the summer season.
