Territory of Russia: On the history of development of the Russian North will be told at the exhibition of rarities of the X-XV centuries in the Novgorod Kremlin

March 15, 2017 in the Novgorod Museum-Reserve will be held artifacts of the X-XV centuries, which are relevant to the development of the Russian North.

Exhibition "Way to the North. Sources" will be open in the museum on April 7, 2017 and will be devoted to the history of development of the northern territories of Russia. It is organized within the framework of the project, in which nine Russian museums will participate. Among them - the museums of Moscow, St. Petersburg and Veliky Novgorod.

The basis of the Novgorod exhibition will be dozens of items from the archaeological collection of the Novgorod Museum-Reserve.

"These are ancient birch bark letters with "northern" plots and references to northern geographical points, wooden seals with which tribal bags were sealed, wooden arrow-tomars for hunting fur-bearing animals and bone tips of such arrows, walrus bones, armament and military items Equipment, as well as things that could accompany the Novgorodians in their northern campaigns, details and elements of ships and sledges, fragments of skis and ice spikes", they reported at the museum.

Most of the rarities will be presented to the public for the first time. The exhibition will be located in the Metropolitan Tower, built in the Kremlin in the XV-XVII centuries.
