Information technology and museums: The multimedia project "Weapons of Heroes" of the Tula State Museum of Weapons

The Ministry of Culture of Russia and the portal "Kultura.RF" released an update of the multimedia project of the Tula State Museum of Weapons - "Weapons of heroes".

The "Weapons of Heroes" project - a virtual museum and a mobile application which took place in December 2016 - in a matter of days it gained popularity among Internet users: the number of those who set the mobile application has exceeded 350 thousand.  

"Weapons of Heroes" - 10 rare exhibits from the collections of the Tula State Museum of Weapons. This is the first model in the series, premium and personal arms. Rifles and carbines, machine guns and revolvers recreated by real photographs, old drawings and instructions - instructions on the device weapon. During the creation of models of the Tula Museum the staff worked with digital-specialists and experts in 3D-modeling.

This helped to create a resource with historically accurate and realistic exhibits. Among the samples - Mosin rifle-line-1891 with serial number №1, infantry rifle Berdan sample of 1870, made in honor of the visit of the imperial family of the Tula arms factory, and the rare instance of machine of Fedorov of 1915 sample.

The updated version of the website was added with the tour mode, where the virtual museum itself will tell and show the history of Russian weapons. The project is fully translated into English.

Even more extensive changes were by made mobile "Weapon of Heroes" app for iOS and Android. The application can be in the "X-ray" mode to see how the shot with a slowdown to 1/500 of a second. Freely flying camera will allow the details to consider both the external design and the internal structure of the masterpieces of engineering. The application is translated into 15 languages ​​and is available in all countries.
