Society and Culture: The exhibition, devoted to images of peasants in sculpture in 1920-1950, at the State Tretyakov Gallery

The permanent exhibition of the State Tretyakov Gallery on Krymsky Val opens chamber exhibition, which introduces viewers rarely exhibited works from the collection of sculptures of the XX century. The project "The men and the women", dedicated to images of peasants in sculpture in 1920-1950, represents the work of the best artists of the Soviet sculpture.

The exposition includes portraits of specific character types, work scenes in the field, the images of relaxing peasants.

Many of the works have already started in the years of the creation of a notable event exhibition life actively discussed by critics, and now constitute the foundation of Soviet art masterpieces.

The exhibition provides an opportunity to compare the work of different artists on the same theme - the life of the peasantry in 1920-1950, when the iconic and lesser-known works, supporting each other, reinforce and set off the sound images in which there is a monumental solemnity and tragedy, and poetry.
