Information technology and libraries: The Central City Library of Sevastopol to digitize local literature

The Leo Tolstoy Central City Library of the city of Sevastopol has a set of equipment for digitizing, storing and processing information.

ELAR Corporation introduced to the work of the Leo Tolstoy Central City Library of a complex of specialized equipment based on RFID technology.

In addition to the equipment for the automation of library service for readers it is established a lined planetary scanner ElarSKAN A2-300. With the help of the staff it will be digitized books for Local History Centre, which was opened in the library this year. Digitization will greatly enhance the ability of the library’s center, for example, will allow participating in the national projects, such as national e-library, local history literary projects, as well as creating their own full-text databases.

Delivery of equipment to the Leo Tolstoy Central City Library was performed as part of the project "Library: a new version" developed by the institution and supported by the federal and regional levels. "The project involves the phased introduction of the work of the library, and high-tech equipment and it is the first in the Crimea and Sevastopol, providing full automation of service of readers", - said Alexander Shatravko, ELAR office head in Simferopol.
