
Society and Culture: The exhibition "Inspired by the sea", to the 200th anniversary of the birth of Ivan Aivazovsky in Nizhny Novgorod
The exhibition "Inspired by the sea", to the 200th anniversary of the birth of Ivan Aivazovsky was opened in Nizhny Novgorod State Art Museum.
On the eve of the anniversary the Nizhny Novgorod Art Museum opens its stores and presents the works of famous Russian marine painter: Ivan Aivazovsky, A. Bogolyubov, L. Lagorio and other artists inspired by the sea.
The exposition is located in two halls. In one room there are paintings by Ivan Aivazovsky, written in different periods of the creative life, from 1848 to 1878.
The second exhibition hall united paintings of Aivazovsky’s closest followers, occupied the place of honor in the history of Russian marine painting - A. Bogolyubov, L. Lagorio, M. Alisov.
All exhibited works – are from the collection of the Nizhny Novgorod Art Museum. Most of them are located in the closed storage, and to see them – is a great success: after the exhibition, they will go back to the museum.
The exhibition is open to visitors till April 2, 2017.
