History and culture: The exhibition "The Defenders of the Fatherland. The image of the soldier in the Russian culture" in Moscow

February 22, 2017 in the exhibition hall "Atrium" in the Museum-Reserve "Kolomenskoye" (Moscow) is opening the exhibition "The Defenders of the Fatherland. The image of the soldier in the Russian culture", which will continue its work until May 14, 2017. The exhibition presents the collective image of Russian soldier in the art of the XV - XX centuries. It consists of several thematic sections, in chronological order, revealing the image of the hero-protector of Russia in different historical epochs.  

At the exhibition visitors will see about 70 exhibits - paintings of Honored Artist of Russia Igor Mashkov, as well as icons, graphics, cold steel, metal plastic, tiles and photographs. The visitors will be presented the sword of the XIV century, and poleax of the XVII - XVIII centuries, boat cannon of the XVII century, Hussar and Cossack saber of the XVIII century, an example of premium weapons with trim made of precious metals - Cavalry saber of the sample of 1827. More than 10 paintings illustrate events of national history, whose characters were both famous generals and ordinary warriors, Russian soldiers.

An amazing combination of modern historical painting and authentic objects era create understanding of the milestones of Russian military history. The exhibition represents the diversity of Russian art culture related to military subjects from ancient icons, bringing deep peace of the saints, to event-related photos of the XX century, the details of the transmission of life of the Red Army soldiers.

The first results will be presented to a large local history of the museum staff, will be shown pictures of inhabitants of the village Kolomenskoye, members of the First and Second World Wars, with the story of their lives.
