Society and Culture: The VII International Platonov Festival of Arts in Voronezh

The VII International Platonov Festival of Arts takes place in Voronezh from 2 to 14 June 2017. Representatives of 17 countries are participating in it.

The program of the forum annually includes the directions "Theater", "Music", "Exhibitions" and "Literature". It presents the world art in all the diversity of forms and traditions: dramatic performances, choreography and opera, visual and synthetic theater, classical music, jazz and World Music, painting and graphics, video art and installations, prose, poetry and drama.

The festival, named after the outstanding prose writer of the XX century, Andrei Platonov, has been held in his homeland since 2011. The special "Platonic program" includes performances based on the writer's works, as well as art that is in tune with the spirit and epoch of Andrei Platonov.

All theatrical and concert stages of Voronezh, exhibition halls and galleries are used as festival grounds. Most of them are located in the city center, not far from each other.

The forum has become one of the largest and most meaningful arts festivals in Russia. In 2016, more than 77,000 spectators from different cities visited the events of the forum. In the federal media, the Platonov Festival was named one of the most significant Russian cultural forums, and Voronezh in June - the cultural capital of Russia.
