Museums of Russia: The International Conference on Architectural Restoration in the Rostov Kremlin

2 June 2017

From June 1 to June 3, 2017, the International Scientific and Practical Conference "Restoration of Large Architectural Complexes - the Way to Restore the Historical Urban Environment" is held at the Museum of History of the Rostov Kremlin. The Rostov Kremlin Museum invited specialists in architectural restoration from Russia, Germany, Israel, the Czech Republic.

Such a representative conference of restoration practitioners is not accidentally held in the Rostov Kremlin. At the moment, the largest restoration project in the Central Federal District is underway: the restoration of the complex of the Stables yard of the Rostov Archbishop's House (XVII century). The complex survived several reconstructions and epochs of existence - from the Stables of the Rostov bishops to the Soviet military base. Abandoned since the 1970s, a huge building-square with a courtyard rises from the ruins: according to the project of the Central Scientific Restoration Project Workshops, new expositions, storage facilities, and visitor reception areas will appear here. In general, this project will in many respects change the urban appearance of Rostov and will continue the museums of the city center begun by the Museum "Rostov Kremlin".
