Memory of Russia and the World: The Russian Military Historical Society presented a project on the legend of the European aviation of the XX century Ivan Smirnov in Moscow

In the Moscow Museum of Military Uniforms of the Russian Military Historical Society was held the presentation of an international project dedicated to the Russian pilot-ace of the First World War and the legend of the European aviation of the XX century, Ivan Smirnov. At the event there was presented the memorial album "Russian" Flying Dutchman" and the photo exhibition of the same name with unique photographs and fragments of memories from the personal archive of Ivan Smirnov.

The project on perpetuating the memory of Ivan Smirnov is the result of a three-year joint search and research work by the staff of the Vladimir-Suzdal Museum-Reserve with the Dutch National Museum "Aviodrome" (Nationaal Luchtvaart-Themapark Aviodrome), where today the personal archive of Smirnov is kept; KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, private collectors, as well as the international fund Russkiy Mir and the Russian Military Historical Society.

Photos from the personal archive of the pilot and memoirs from his memoirs can also be seen in Vladimir at the end of July at the photo exhibition "Russian" Flying Dutchman". In September 2017, the photo exhibition and presentation of the album "Russian "Flying Dutchman "Ivan Smirnov" will be held in the Dutch city of Lelystad.
