Museums of Russia: The Museum “Leaders of Victory” is opened n the Youth Cultural Center of Staraya Russa

June 27, 2017 in the Youth Cultural Center of the city of Staraya Russa, the grand opening of the museum "Leaders of Victory" will take place, in which materials about the life and military path of the outstanding military leader Ivan Danilovich Chernyakhovsky are presented.

The initiator of the creation of the museum is the Russian Military Historical Society. This is not the first project implemented by the RVIO in Staraya Russa. In 2016 the RVIO installed a monument to the Soviet soldier and updated the Alley of Heroes of the Soviet Union - natives of the Staraya Russa district.

The administration of the Staraya Russa Municipal District prepared a room for the museum. The museum will present materials on the life and military path of I. D. Chernyakhovsky: historical documents, examples of uniforms of the Great Patriotic War, officer pistol "Mauser", a German field telephone and an American phone transmitted by the USSR in lend-lease, as well as accurate Copies of all the awards of the general. In a separate exposition, the finds of the search teams of the Novgorod region will be presented.

The opening of the museum is timed to the 110th anniversary of the General of the Army, twice Hero of the Soviet Union I. D. Chernyakhovsky. The youngest commander I. D. Chernyakhovsky met the war with the commander of the 28th Panzer Division of the 12th Mechanized Corps of the North-Western Front. In the summer of 1941, he took part in defensive battles to the south-west of Siauliai, on the Western Dvina, near Soltsy, as part of the Novgorod Operational Group of Forces, he defended Novgorod.
