History and culture: Manuscript and old printed publications are presented at the exhibition “Crossroad of time” in Surgut

The Surgut Museum of Local Lore invites anyone to visit the exhibition "Crossroad of Time". In the bright space of the exposition visitors will get acquainted with the amazing geological, biological and cultural processes of Western Siberia.

The exhibition presents around 1800 exhibits, including museum items of world significance. These are such manuscript and old printed rare books as "Oktoih" of 1594 - the same age as Surgut; Irresistible in its beauty Byzantine jug of the early XII century.

The updated exposition was enriched with unique items reflecting the substantive culture of the population of the Surgut Uyezd of the XVIII-XIX centuries. The new section of the exhibition is based on the archaeological excavations of the village of Urochische Bala.

The museum for the first time so largely presents to Surgu residents the collection, including fishing equipment (hunting, fishing, reindeer breeding); details of falsified-horse equipment; forging and locksmith tools; imported and local utensils; a variety of jewelry and shoes of the XVIII-XIX centuries.
