World culture: Exhibition "From the Indus to the Ganges. From the mountains to the plains" in Moscow

4 July 2017

The exhibition "From the Indus to the Ganges. From the mountains to the plains" is opened in the Museum of the East in Moscow. It is timed to the 70th anniversary of India's independence. The exhibition will run from 4 to 23 July 2017.

Visitors can get acquainted with Indian painting, graphics and sculpture. The exhibition presents more than eighty exhibits from the collection of the State Museum of the East.

All works of art date back to the 1940s and 1960s, the time when Indian culture refused to "Europeanise" and turned to archaic folklore forms. Thanks to such forms, symbols and images of the ancient state were recreated. During this period, Indian culture has become independent and distinctive.
