Mobile exhibition "Victory monument alive" in Saint-Petersburg

In the exhibition hall "Narva Triumphal Gates" in Saint-Petersburg on July 5, 2017 a mobile exhibition "Victory monument alive" was opened.

The Narva Triumphal Gates is a monument associated with the victory over Napoleon. In 1814, the first wooden triumphal gates met the Russian guard, returning from conquered Paris, in 20 years, the present, stone, "dressed in brass clothes" gates were inaugurated. The exhibition "Victory monuments alive" was created by the State Museum of Art Culture of the Novgorod land and tells about the glorious history of the Draugun Life Guards (Leib-Guard of the Horse-Jaegers) regiment.

March 19, 1814 Russian troops entered Paris, thereby victoriously completing a long struggle with Napoleon. Wishing to perpetuate this event, Emperor Alexander I decided to form and to introduce the Horse Guards Regiment into the Russian Guard. On April 3, a decree was signed in Paris, which pointed: "In memory of the capture of the city of Paris and the war that ended successfully, with the French, which lasted 1812, 1813 and 1814, to form L.-G. Horse-Jaeger Regiment. "Life Guards The Dragoon Regiment participated in the Russian-Turkish War of 1877-1878, the First World War. Separate servicemen of the regiment wrote a report and went to the theater of military operations of the Crimean (1853-1856) and Russian-Japanese (1904-1905) wars.

The exposition presents copies of works from museums, archives, libraries and private collections.
