Culture and authority: The Government Commission on State Cultural Policy

Chairman of the Government of Russia D. A. Medvedev signed a decree on the establishment of the Government Commission on State Cultural Policy. The document was prepared by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation in accordance with the "Fundamentals of State Cultural Policy". 

The main proposal of the Commission – is to elaborate and to correct the strategic approaches to the implementation of the state cultural policy.

In order to achieve the tasks assigned, the Commission, in particular, will have to:

- to develop draft strategies for state cultural policy;

- to prepare proposals on adjusting existing and adopting new state programs, if necessary, providing for interdepartmental coordination of activities to implement the strategy of state cultural policy;

- to form effective mechanisms for coordinating the activities of subjects of state cultural policy;

- to monitor the achievement of the objectives of the state cultural policy;

- to develop criteria for assessing the activities of federal executive bodies, executive authorities of the subjects of the Federation and local self-government bodies for the implementation of state cultural policy.

The Commission will be headed by the Deputy Chairman of the Government of Russia. The personal composition of the Commission will be approved by a separate decree of the Government.

The document was reviewed and approved at a meeting of the Government of the Russian Federation on July 6, 2017.
