Information Technology and Culture: Exhibits from the collection of the costumes of the Museum of the Bolshoi Theater are digitized
ELAR Corporation digitized the exhibits from the costume fund of the Museum of the Bolshoi Theater.
The place of the digitization was deployed in the storage area of the Museum of the Bolshoi Theater. Stage costumes were converted into digital format on special equipment designed specifically for creating electronic images of valuable voluminous objects in high resolution. The custodian installed the exhibit on the turntable, the automatic camera made from 20 to 360 frames at pre-set shooting parameters, and then the images were collected in a single video.
"The museum receives a cylindrical roller, which allows viewing the object on the screen from all sides and details, as well as photographs of the exhibit, which can be downloaded to the accounting system and the State Museum Fund of the Museum Fund of the Russian Federation. Thus, digital copies are used by the museum in accounting activities and for the presentation of collections", - commented the deputy head of the department of the ELAR Corporation for work with museums, Evgeny Mokeev.
Costumes for opera and ballet performances, which are digitized by ELAR, are dated XVIII-XXI centuries.
"We use electronic images as part of the organization of interactive exhibitions, when large-format monitors show 3D-videos. Thus, the modern viewer has the opportunity to see those costumes that cannot be exhibited because of their safety, or because it is impossible to provide them with special conditions for exhibiting", - says Anastasia Belevich, curator of the costume fund of the Bolshoi Theater Museum.
In total, the collection of the costumes of the Museum of the Bolshoi Theater contains about three thousand exhibits, seventy of them were digitized during the project.
