From August 16 to September 10, 2017 in the cultural and educational center of the “Chamber” of the State Vladimir-Suzdal Museum-Reserve is running a photo exhibition "Russian "Flying Dutchman" Ivan Smirnov".

In 2014, to the 100th anniversary of the beginning of the First World War, the Vladimir-Suzdal Museum-Reserve organized an exhibition "Unforgettable heroes of a forgotten war". Through the exhibits, documents and photos it was presented a slice of memory about Vladimir residents who fought and lived in the rear a century ago. The hero of the exhibition was a native of the city of Vladimir, one of the first Russian pilots Ivan Vasilyevich Smirnov. Soon after the October Revolution of 1917, he emigrated from Russia, and in the 1920-50s he became the legend of European aviation.
