Internet and history: Internet project "The Soviet satellite is the first in the world!" will be launched to the 60th anniversary of the launch of the first artificial Earth satellite

Unique documents from archives and museums about the launch of the first Earth satellite will be published on the Internet to the 60th anniversary of the landmark event.

The Internet project "The Soviet satellite is the first in the world!" will be launched on the Archives of Russia portal of the Federal Archival Agency on October 4, 2017.

Within the project, digital copies of almost 200 documents from 12 Russian archives and museums related to the launch of the first artificial Earth satellite on October 4, 1957 will be published on the website.

The online exhibition will feature text documents, drawings, diagrams, photographs, recordings of speeches, newsreels describing events from the development of the ideas of the founder of theoretical astronautics, Konstantin Tsiolkovsky, before the launch of the third Soviet artificial Earth satellite. Many of them have been declassified recently and for the first time will be presented to the general public.
