The Administrative Directorate of the President of the Russian Federation established

15 November 1993

On November 15, 1993, in order to improve the financial, material, technical and social support for the activities of government bodies, the Administrative Directorate of the President of the Russian Federation was established by the order of the President of the Russian Federation B. N. Yeltsin. The new independent federal executive body became the legal successor of the Administration of the CPSU Central Committee, the Council of Ministers of the USSR and the 4th Main Directorate of the USSR Ministry of Health.

In the Russian Empire, the tasks assigned to the modern Administrative Directorate of the President of the Russian Federation were carried out by the Ministry of the Imperial Court and Appanages (MFA), formed on August 22 (September 3), 1826 with the aim of uniting all the central bodies of court administration that arose in the 18th century. The earliest institution included in the new ministry was the Cabinet of His Imperial Majesty, which arose in 1704 as the personal office of Tsar Peter I.

At various times, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also included the Court Office of His Imperial Majesty (from 1786 to 1882 it was in charge of the maintenance of the imperial palaces in St. Petersburg, gardens and parks of the court department, food for the imperial family, court staff and the organization of court ceremonies); Gough's quartermaster's office (since 1797, it was in charge of the construction, repair and furnishing of imperial palaces); Chapter of Russian Imperial and Tsarist Orders (managed the award system of the Russian Empire); Court medical unit; Construction office; Main Palace Administration; Department of Appanages (since 1892 - Main Directorate of Appanages). The Ministry of the Imperial Court and Appanages was abolished on December 4 (17), 1917.

Today, the Administrative Directorate of the President of the Russian Federation not only ensures the activities of the Head of State, the Chairman of the Government, the Presidential Administration, the Federation Council, the State Duma and other supreme federal authorities, but also provides a wide range of services to the population.

In accordance with the Regulations approved by the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation of September 17, 2008, the Administrative Directorate is entrusted with the following tasks: logistics; social services; financial and economic support; ensuring events with the participation of the President, as well as those carried out by the Government; transport services; organization of medical care; organization of sanatorium-resort treatment and provision of organized recreation.

The system of Administrative Directorate of the President of the Russian Federation is becoming more and more open. Any citizen of Russia can use the services of medical institutions, sanatoriums, rest homes, cultural facilities, and agro-industrial enterprises.
