The Day of the state symbols of the Chuvash Republic

In accordance with the Decree of the President of the Chuvash Republic of April 8, 2004 № 24 "On the Day of the state symbols of the Chuvash Republic" and the law of the Chuvash Republic of April 19, 2004 № 1 "On the Day of the state symbols of the Chuvash Republic" there was established the Day of the state symbols of the Chuvash Republic, celebrated annually on April 29.

The Day of the state symbols of the Chuvash Republic is celebrated on the day of approval of the national emblem, flag and anthem of the Chuvash Republic. Authors of the anthem are: composer G. S. Lebedev, poet I. S. Tuktash; of the flag and the emblem - artist E. M. Yuriev.

The national flag, emblem and anthem of the Chuvash Republic are mandatory attributes of state power of the Chuvash Republic established by law, representing it in formal situations and in the international arena. The legal status of state symbols and regulation of legal relations in the field of their reproduction and official use are stated in the Law of the Chuvash Republic of 1997, "On the state symbols of the Chuvash Republic."

For the first time the presence in the republic of itsr own state symbols - the emblem and the flag - was fixed in the Constitution of the Chuvash Autonomous Republic, adopted January 31, 1926. Prior to this document, letterheads and stamps of government bodies used the State Emblem of the Russian Federation with the name of the Chuvash Autonomous Region, and then the Republic in Chuvash and Russian.

National and state symbols of the Chuvash Republic are one of the few that in addition to its official meaning also represent artistic and poetic images of the Motherland. Therefore, the public holiday of the symbols of the Republic has a great educational value. Through them we come in contact with the wealth of our history and traditions, they feed our love for the native land, strengthen patriotic feelings.
