The reindeer herder's day is a traditional holiday of the tundra population. It is held in the beginning and middle of the calendar spring in the Far North. On the territory of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous District, the reindeer herder's day is traditionally held from the beginning of March and until the middle of April, when reindeer herders with their herds patch from winter reindeer pastures to summer pastures. Routes and time of the affliction remain practically unchanged for centuries, so the holiday is held in a certain locality when the maximum number of tundra population is approached to it. On this holiday, people who are faithful to their ancestors are honored and continue to live in the tundra, in their plagues and move from one pasture to the next year together with their families and deer herds. Reindeer husbandry is not only one of the branches of agriculture, it is the meaning of life for the tundra population. Feast Day reindeer herders, except for rewarding and honoring the best reindeer herders, can be conditionally divided into cultural and sports parts. The sports part of the holiday includes: throwing the tynzyan (arkan) on the trochee (wooden pole), jumping over the sledge, tug-of-war (mas-wrestling), national wrestling, skiing (homemade) with a stick, reindeer race, snowmobiles .
