Summary History reference.Dmitry Ivanovich, prince, infantry general, Minister of Justice (1817-1827), member of the State Council.DI.Lobanov-Rostovsky was enrolled in 1772 by a sergeant in the Semenovsky regiment.In the rank of colonel in 1783 he commanded Bugsky, and in 1786 - the first Livonia Jaeger battalion.He took part in the accession of Crimea and the Russo-Turkish war of 1787-1791.During the siege of Ochakov in 1788 and the assault Ishmael in 1790, he was seriously wounded and awarded the rank of colonel and the Order of St. George of the 4th degree.For participation in military operations in Poland when capturing A.V.Suvorov Prague received the rank of foreman and the Order: St. George of the 4th degree and the Golden Eagle.Under Paul I D.I.Lobanov-Rostovsky was promoted to Lieutenant General, appointed chief of the Apheron Musketeers regiment and military governor of Arkhangelsk (1797), but on December 27, 1797 he was dismissed by the request.At the end of 1806, he returned to the service and, at the proposal of Alexander I, accepted the command of the seventeenth division formed in the city of Tver, with which General L.L.Bennigsen under Tilsit.On behalf of the emperor, negotiations with Napoleon on the termination of hostilities and together with Prince A.B.Kurakin signed the Tilsit treatise (June 27, 1806), after which he became general from infantry and was awarded the Order of St. Alexander Nevsky, and received the Order of the Legion and Valuable gifts from Napoleon.In 1810, D.I.Lobanov-Rostovsky was appointed military governor of Riga and Livonia, Estland and Courland General Governor (1810-1812).During the Patriotic War of 1812, he was entrusted with the formation of two divisions of the reserve army and the military leadership in the territory from Yaroslavl to Voronezh.In 1813, D.I.Lobanov-Rostovsky received the post of commander of the border reserve army and became a member of the State Council.On August 25, 1815 he was appointed Minister of Justice.He was a member of the Special Committee to draw a general position to the construction of Jews in Russia.In 1822 he became chairman of the committee to find funds to reduce expenses for the military ministry.In 1827 he was dismissed by the request from the post of Minister of Justice
