Ceremonies dedicated to the 73rd anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War took place in Beijing

On May 9, Beijing hosted ceremonies dedicated to the 73rd anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

With the information and organizational assistance of the Rossotrudnichestvo representative office in China on the territory of the “Chaoyang” Park in Beijing, in the “Jintai” Art Gallery, the action "Immortal Regiment" and the ceremony of laying flowers to the monument "Soviet Falcon" by the Chinese sculptor Yuan Sikun were held. More than 400 Russian citizens, compatriots, Russian students studying in Chinese universities, schoolchildren, citizens of China took part in the march. Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Russia to China Andrey Denisov, embassy officials, representatives of Rossotrudnichestvo in the PRC and other Russian overseas agencies took part in the "Immortal Regiment" action. The official part of the holiday in the capital park "Chaoyang" was continued with a concert with the participation of Russian and Chinese creative groups. A festive concert was also held at the Russian Embassy in China.

A live broadcast of the Victory Parade on Red Square was organized at the Russian Cultural Center in Beijing. And later in the big hall of the RCC for "Evening of Memory", organized by the Association of Russian Students in China, Russian and Chinese students of universities, compatriots and members of the Russian club in Beijing were came together. Opening the memorable evening, Olga Melnikova, the head of the Rossotrudnichestvo in China, stressed that Victory Day was a festive date bringing people of the CIS countries, Russia and China closer together. In support of these words, participants of the evening from Russia, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and other former Soviet republics performed poems, songs, and told about the military pages of the history of their families.

On May 10, a meeting of children from the seaside school of the city of Artyom with a representative of the military memorial group of the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation at the Russian Embassy in China was held at the Russian Cultural Center. During the event, schoolchildren got familiar with the activities to find and maintain military burial sites on the territory of the PRC, to perpetuate the memory of Soviet soldiers who helped China in liberation from the Japanese militarists.

The Presidential Library portal presents the electronic collection "Memory of the Great Victory". It includes official documents, photo and newsreels, wartime newspapers, books, agitation and propaganda publications, collections of articles, biographies, testimonies from participants in combat engagements and home front workers, their personal documents, images of combat and labor awards, monuments and memorials complexes, thoughts about the war of grandsons and great-grandchildren of veterans.
