Bucharest hosted a conference to the 140th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and Romania

The Russian Center for Science and Culture in Bucharest hosted a conference dedicated to the 140th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and Romania. It was divided into two parts: scientific, with the participation of Romanian historians, and the youth one.

The event was attended by over 50 people: Romanian historians of the Center for Russian and Soviet Studies of Florina Kontantiniu, members of youth organizations "Vostok-Group" and "Eurasia", students, representatives of other public organizations.

On the Russian side it have been read reports of Russian historians V. A. Zolotarev, N. V. Ilievsky, speech by member of the Board of the Gorchakov Fund and Assistant Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of MGIMO J. S. Putintsev.

The presentation of prizes and gifts to the winners of the essay contest dedicated to the anniversary date was held. In total, over 20 works were received, eight of which were recognized by the joint Russian-Romanian jury as the most worthy of valuable prizes and gifts. The students read out their works and shared their vision of the development of Russian-Romanian relations. Also within the framework of the youth meeting, an appeal to the governments of Russia and Romania was drawn up and sent to the Rossotrudnichestvo office. The participants listened and signed the Memorandum on the unification of efforts of organizations and citizens working in the sphere of people's diplomacy in the interests of peace, friendship, mutual understanding and trust between peoples. In addition, steps were taken to strengthen the dialogue between the youth of the two countries.

Electronic collection "Russia-Romania: from the history of relationships" is presented on the Presidential Library portal. The presented collection of archives, books and other materials highlights the socio-political situation of Romania and certain issues of economic relations between Romania and Russia in the XIX-XX centuries.
