Literary readings dedicated to the 275th anniversary of Gavriil Romanovich Derzhavin were held in Baku

The school-lyceum of the Baku Slavic University in the framework of the project of the Russian Information and Cultural Center in Baku "Literary Lounge" hosted the readings "And the lyricist, and the satirist, and the state husband" dedicated to the 275th anniversary of the Russian poet, public figure Gavriil Romanovich Derzhavin.

The event was attended by the director of the lyceum school Ilaha Jarchieva and the chairman of the Association of Teachers of Russian-language schools in Azerbaijan, the coordinator of educational programs RICC Lyubov Yakunina.

July 14, 2018 will mark the 275th anniversary of the birth of the Russian poet and statesman Gavriil Romanovich Derzhavin. A detailed biography of Gavriill Romanovich is given by J. K. Grot in his large-scale work "The Life of Derzhavin according to his writings and letters and historical documents". The electronic copy of the three-volume edition, published in 1883, is available on the Presidential Library portal. Derzhavin's steps along the career ladder are noted in the work: from the rank of soldier to the officer's rank, and later to the governor general's rank. J. Grot dedicated to the military activities of the poet another book - "Activities and correspondence Derzhavin during the Pugachev revolt", the digitized edition of 1861 is stored in the Presidential Library collections.
