The Russian Center of Science and Culture in Ankara hosted the IV stage of the All-Russian Olympiad in the Russian language

The Russian Center of Science and Culture in Ankara hosted the IV stage of the All-Russian Olympiad in Russian, dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the birth of the great Russian writer Ivan Sergeevich Turgenev.

The event, organized by the Ankara Association of Slavic Teachers and Translators with the support of the Rossotrudnichestvo representation in the Republic of Turkey, was timed to the celebration of the Day of Slavic Literature and Culture in Russia. The Russian Peoples' Friendship University (PFUR) took an active part in organizing the Olympiad. Specialists of the University developed competitive test tasks for participants of the Olympiad, and also expressed their readiness to join the jury at the final stage of the educational action.

Welcoming the participants, the head of the Rossotrudnichestvo representation Enver Sheikhov spoke about the ongoing educational, cultural, educational and scientific-methodological activities aimed at popularizing the Russian language, encouraging citizens' interest in his studies and improving the level of teaching of the Russian language in Turkey.

The photo exhibition "The Enlighteners of the Slavs", dedicated to Saints Cyril and Methodius - the creators of the Slavic alphabet, the preachers of Christianity, the first translator of liturgical books from Greek into Slavic language, and a video plot about the celebration of Slavonic Literature and Culture Day in Russia was presented to the audience.

More than 200 students of Ankara universities studying the Russian language took part in the regional round of the Olympiad. The Olympiad aimed at popularizing the Russian language in Turkey, as well as strengthening positive motivation for its study, is being held in 18 other cities of Turkey. The final of the Olympiad is planned to be held in October this year in Alanya.

In 2017, more than 2,000 Turkish students from 14 settlements participated in the Olympiad. The Rossotrudnichestvo representative office provided the winners of the final round an opportunity for free education in Russian universities in the framework of the scholarship program of the Government of the Russian Federation.

The electronic collection "Russian language" is presented on the Presidential Library portal. It includes manuscripts and publications of monuments of Russian writing, archival affairs, scientific works (including dissertations and thesis), dictionaries and reference books, teaching aids. The digital collection "Russian language" will be cognitive not only to specialists in the field of linguistics, but also to a wide range of users who love and appreciate the Russian language.
