The Children's Day in the Presidential Library was held under the motto "Childhood should be happy!"

Today, June 1, 2018, the Presidential Library hosted the regional forum "Childhood should be happy!", dedicated to the launch of the initiative of the President of the Russian Federation "Decade of Childhood". Representatives of executive and legislative authorities of the Leningrad region, municipalities, the Commissioner for the rights of the child in the region, representatives of the parental community, heads of socially-oriented non-profit and educational organizations, institutions for orphans, as well as participants of the Russian movements of schoolchildren gathered together in the conference hall of the Synod historical building.

The Governor of the Leningrad region, Alexander Drozdenko, opening the forum, said: "We should be guided by the principle that childhood should be happy for all children without exception, regardless of whether the child is growing up in a two-parent family or incomplete family, whether he is an orphan or has health restrictions. The task of the authorities is to supplement family education". "Our region cannot be the territory of successful development, the territory of successful people, if our children are not happy. Therefore, over the next 10 years, the Leningrad region should become the territory of a happy childhood", - the head of the region stressed.

Within the framework of the forum a solemn ceremony of rewarding with a breastplate "Hot Heart" was held. For the courage, fortitude and heroism shown in the provision of assistance to the victims, it was awarded to three inmates of the Svirstroy Resource Center. For long-term fruitful cooperation and educational activities in the family organization of orphans, the collective of the charity fund for helping children left without parental care, "Children are waiting" and the staff of the television and radio company "Petersburg" were also noted.

After the solemn events the forum participants held a panel discussion "Challenges of the Future Decade. Education – whose area of ​​responsibility, who needs society, what should be the next generation like?". The topic of discussion was new standards of life and learning, problems of physical and psychological health of children, communication skills and their impact on the future of the child, as well as many other topical issues.

The Presidential Library pays much attention to learning and educational projects for the younger generation. Schoolchildren of St. Petersburg, Leningrad region and other regions of Russia take an active part in video lectures, master classes, cinema club meetings and round tables, concerts. Among the educational projects a specific palace is held by the Olympiad of schoolchildren "Russia in the Electronic World" - a large-scale project that is organized jointly with the Herzen State University and the Main Scientific Research Computing Center of the Department of Affairs of the President of the Russian Federation. In addition, in the building on the Senatskaya Square, 3 regular classes are held with the participation of distinguished teachers, guided tours, meetings with famous cultural and art figures, science and sports. The children participate in the acquisition of the Presidential Library collections. So, this year the electronic collections have been enriched with drawings of participants of the contest "Football is my favorite kind of sport".
