Opening of the youth leisure center "Location. Valdai" in Veliky Novgorod

June 27, 2018 Veliky Novgorod hosted the festive opening of the youth center "Location. Valdai".

For the guests of the holiday, a rich entertainment program was organized as well as familiarity with the center in the format of the quest, prizes. There was also held a session with the International Space Station.

The plenipotentiary representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the North-West Federal District Alexander Beglov, the provincial governor of the Novgorod region Andrey Nikitin, the head of the Valdai district Yuri Stade and the head of the all-Russian youth public organization "Mir" Kristina Fedoseyeva delivered welcoming speeches.

According to the organizers, "Location. Valdai" is a youth center of a new generation, which includes:

∙ A leisure center for pre-school, school-age children and their parents, where everyone can find something to their liking;

∙ Club classes in the humanitarian, technical and artistic areas;

∙ Modern and multifunctional infrastructure;

∙ Children's room and a lot of table games to choose from;

∙ A cozy library with a center for remote access to the resources of the Presidential Library.

The library's collections include more than 2,250 books of various genres and formats: atlases, encyclopedias, educational literature, artistic classical and contemporary prose, fairy tales, poems. Center’s special focus is on information work and involvement of the younger generation in it. To solve this problem, the organizers created a separate media center, in the framework of which the children will be taught video and photography, a journalist, oratorical skills and technologies to promote news on the Internet. As practical work, the guys will take part in the conduct of a specially created youth Internet channel, in which everyone will be able to tell about the most interesting news from the life of the city.

On the website of the Presidential Library the region is represented by the collection "Novgorod Region: Pages of History". The presented statistical and cartographic materials, studies and essays of the XIX - early XX century are introduced to the geographical, ethnographic, demographic, socio-economic and socio-political aspects of the history of the Novgorod region. The selection also includes the current charter of the region.
