“History of the Russian Flag” display underway in the Penza Regional Library

The Day of the State Flag of the Russian Federation is marked yearly in Russia on August 22. On the eve of the event the electronic presentation of “History of the Russian Flag” exhibition was launched in the historical building of the M. Yu. Lermontov Penza Regional Library.

The exhibition displays books on Russian symbols with a flag being one of the oldest heraldic signs. Richly illustrated books give an insight into the origin of basic symbols of our Motherland. Visitors of the presentation had a chance to view electronic resources focused on the history and the present of the flag. Relevant resources are available in the library’s electronic reading room. They are in particular: the Presidential Library’s electronic collections the Dissertations Digital Library of the Russian State Library, and the National Electronic Library.

Penza Region is in the spotlight of  “Penza Region: Pages of History” collection, available on the website of the Presidential Library. The collection features archival papers, essays, studies and statistical materials, which shed light on demographic, geographic, socio-economic, socio-political and other aspects of history of Penza Region from late 18th c. to the first third of 20th c. The current statute of Penza Region is available for study, too.
