Participants of the international car rally Russia-Bulgaria "One History - One Victory" finished in Sofia

A press conference on the results of the international car rally "One History - One Victory", dedicated to the 140th anniversary of the liberation of Bulgaria from the Ottoman yoke during the Russo-Turkish War of 1877-1878 was held at the Russian Cultural and Information Center in Sofia. The organizers told journalists about the way the rally had passed and about the plans for the future.

15 participants of the rally drove in a column of cars with Russian and Bulgarian flags about 5000 km along the roads of Russia and Bulgaria to pay tribute to the memory of the dead heroes of the Russo-Turkish war of 1877-1878, visiting the cities of Vidin, Kireevo, Vratsa, Lovech, Pleven, Tarnovo, Shumen, Pliska, Varna, Burgas, Stara Zagora, Plovdiv, Shipka and others.

The car rally finished in Sofia, where participants laid wreaths at the monument to Alexander II the Liberator, the Unknown Soldier's Memorial and the Soviet Army Monument, and also answered journalists' questions.

The project developers of "One History - One Victory" were the Federation of Motoring in the Moscow Region and the Federation of Moto and Auto Touring in Bulgaria. The project has been implemented with the support of the Rossotrudnichestvo representative office in Bulgaria, the Foundation of Presidential Grants and the Russian Geographical Society.

The Presidential Library portal features electronic collection "Russia-Bulgaria: from the history of relationships", through which everyone can gain access to papers and documents on the Russo-Turkish War of 1877-1878 and the Treaty of San Stefano. In particular, the collection includes a monograph "The Russo-Turkish War, predetermined by Peter the Great about the deliverance of Eastern Christians from the Turkish age-old yoke. Issue 1” and Issue 2 (1878), as well as "A brief story about the Slavs (especially about the Bulgarians), i.e., about their origin, customs, beliefs, etc., and about the oppression of the Turks" by A. Vyshgorodsky the same year edition.
