12 September 2018

Cultural patterns between Russia and France, areas of common interest between the two countries in different fields, the prospects for joint cooperation, the role of the media and communication in the modern world - these and many other topical issues were discussed in the Presidential Library in the framework of the interactive conference "At the Crossroads of Civilizations of the XXI Century. Dialogue of upper class: politics, business, culture".

The event was attended by students and representatives of cultural institutions of France and Russia. The organizers of the meeting were the "Kovcheg" charity fund in association with the Presidential Library and the Russian Spiritual and Cultural Orthodox Center in Paris.

"The main goal of our conference is to establish a dialogue between young people of France and Russia. It is very symbolic that the discussion takes place within the walls of the Presidential Library, where two different institutions successfully interacted and continue to interact today - the state and the church", - said Jean-Pierre Thomas, a French businessman, politician, adviser to former French President Nicolas Sarkozy, President of Thomas Vendome Investment, responsible for the investment in Russia of the international AMUNDI fund.

It stands to mention that the events with the participation of Jean-Pierre Thomas in the building on the Senate Square are becoming regular. So, in 2017, the Presidential Library held a similar meeting: then the businessman and politician answered questions of Russian youth.

The Presidential Library portal features electronic collection "Russia-France: from the history of relations", which includes official documents, archive materials and studies that reveal certain aspects of the history of the French state, as well as diplomatic, cultural, academic and economic ties between countries in different historical periods. Among them are rare editions "Peter the Great in France" of 1894 and "Their Imperial Majesties in France" of 1896, telling about the journey of Nicholas II and Alexandra Feodorovna, newsreel footage on which the arrival of French President A.
