A unique exhibition in commemoration of the centenary of the tragic murder of the royal family underway in London

The Grand Duchess Elizabeth Romanov Society under the auspices of “Double-Headed Eagle” Society for Development of Russian Historical Education launched a series of events in the Russian Center of Science and Culture in London to mark the centenary of the murder of the royal family.

“The Cross of the Romanovs” exhibition showcases around 140 restored photographs, films, rare documents and copies of portraits and presents the Russian Imperial family’s links with the British Royal Family, the exchange of Royal visits, the charitable work of the Russian Imperial family during World War I and the last days of the Tsar’s family. Documents from the Russian State Archives were published and presented to the general public for the first time. Olga Andreevna Romanova was the guest of honor at the opening of the exposition.

The exhibition in London continued commemorative events, which took place on the Isle of Wight where the monument to the Russian Imperial Family and to the Grand Duchess Elizabeth was solemnly unveiled. The documentary about these events was shown, too. Lord-Lieutenant of the Isle of Wight Sir Martin White, Prince Rostislav Romanov, Vice-Chairman of the Romanov Family Association, church hierarchs and civil authorities, academics and writers, attended these events.

The Presidential Library provides access to “The Execution of the Royal Family” collection on its portal. It highlights the centenary of the assassination of the royal family in Yekaterinburg, features the first studies of circumstances of execution in the Ipatiev House published in the 1920s, in particular the book of the British journalist Robert Wilton, the brochure of the participant of the White movement V. P. Agapeev, the essay of the Soviet statesman P. M. Bykov, as well as telegrams of a chairman of the Ural Regional Soviet about the detention of the royal family, and visual materials.
