The Tretyakov Gallery presents “Vitamin-Plus” exhibition as part of “St. Petersburg Artistic Dynasties” project

1 October 2018

As part of the upcoming exhibition at the Tretyakov Gallery (St. Petersburg), which will run from October 2 to October 27, 2018, art lovers will have an opportunity to discover the oeuvre of Nina Ivanovna Kazimova and her son Vitaly Kazimov – the Kazimov Dynasty (St. Petersburg).

Nina I. Kazimova is the laureate and prizewinner of 30 prints and ex libris contests, corresponding member of the Peter’s Academy of Sciences and Arts and full member of the Academy of Folk Art (Moscow). The artist works in ex libris genre. She has produced over 450 etchings, including over 295 bookplates, and seven books of limited circulation.

Pictures of her eldest son Vitaly is an example of the naïve art. Viewers note the optimistic mood, vivid color, good irony and originality of his works. Nobody except for kith and kin had been familiar with Vitaly's oeuvre until this year. Being a seriously ill person, he was able to start drawing only with the appearance of a computer. The birth of a master – an outstanding and original master - at the age of forty is a truly amazing event. “Vitamin Plus” is the fourth personal exhibition of the artist through this year.

In 2014 Vitaly became member of the Union of Folk Artists.

On display is an engraved book by N. I. Kazimova entitled “Fruits are among leaves”. The publication is dedicated to the 36th World Ex Libris Congress, which was held in Vologda in 2016. It aimed to promote and popularize the ex libris movement in Russia.

The Presidential Library and the Tretyakov Gallery have been actively cooperating for several years. A variety of projects include joint exhibitions, tours around the Presidential Library for winners of competitions organized by the museum, etc. One of the main areas of cooperation is digitization of postcards from the museum’s holdings and making them available in the electronic collections of the Presidential Library.

The exhibition is opening on October 3 at 5 p.m.

The gallery is situated at 2, Pionerskaya Str. (Sportivnaya metro station). tel.: (812) 233-10-07, +7 921 405-44-89.
