A seminar on work planning of regional libraries for 2019 held in Murmansk Region

October 24–25, 2018 the regional seminar “Planning the work of the libraries of Murmansk Region for 2019: main directions, tasks and prospects” was held in the Murmansk State Regional Universal Research Library, which included specialists from the state and municipal libraries of the region.

In the course of the seminar, priority areas of library activity and the main ways of development of the industry in 2019, current aspects of creating model municipal libraries in the region, issues of organizing remote electronic reading rooms of the Presidential Library in the region were considered.

Specialists of the Murmansk Regional Center of the Presidential Library, running on the basis of the regional research library, shared their experience in holding mass cultural and educational events, and talked about the work on digitizing valuable local history publications. Moreover, a new resource was presented - the library portal of Murmansk Region.

On the website of the Presidential Library the region is represented by the collection “Murmansk Region: Pages of History”. The proposed collection includes studies, statistical materials, archival documents, graphic and video materials reflecting geography, socio-economic and political aspects of the history of Murmansk Region in the second half of 18th - the first third of 20th century, as well as the current charter of the region.
