The cycle of literary evenings launched at the Russian Cultural Center in Washington

The cycle of literary evenings with famous prose writers, poets and translators has been launched in the Russian Cultural Center in Washington.

The first event of the cycle was dedicated to the 215th anniversary of the birth of the poet and diplomat Fyodor Ivanovich Tyutchev, whose lines “I don’t understand Russia with my mind ...” became the quintessence of the expression of the Russian soul.

The traditions of Russian poetic art continue in the verses of modern poets. A wonderful example is the work of Marina Tyurina-Oberlander, a famous poet, translator and prose writer, member of the Writers' Union, laureate of the International Prize named after Leonardo da Vinci. Her translations into Russian of the Danish poet Inger Christensen, as well as her own poems and prose were performed at the evening. The guests of the evening warmly welcomed the performance of the poetess, who spoke about her work and about the peculiarities of the work of the translator-writer.

The genre of chamber literary evenings with verse reading, discussion of the subtleties of translation, direct communication with the authors is very much loved and in demand among the Russian-speaking intelligentsia. They are of no less interest to Americans who understand and love Russian culture.

The Russian Language electronic collection is presented on the Presidential Library’s portal. It includes manuscripts and publications of monuments of Russian literature, archival files, research papers (including thesis and dissertation abstracts), dictionaries and reference books, and teaching aids. "Russian language" digital collection will be of interest not only to specialists in the field of linguistics, but also to a wide range of users who love and appreciate the Russian language.
