Exhibition marking Leo Tolstoy’s anniversary opened in Mongolia

November 27, 2018, an exhibition dedicated to the 190th anniversary of the birth of the great Russian writer Leo Tolstoy was opened at the Russian Center of Science and Culture in Ulaanbaatar. The exhibition was attended by course participants of the Russian language courses at the RCSC, students and teachers of the Cyrillic school, as well as about 500 participants of solemn events marking the completion of the 2018 Russian-Mongolian Friendship and Cooperation Days.

Tatyana Budaeva, acting leader of the head of the representative office of Rossotrudnichestvo in Mongolia, noted in her welcoming speech that the work of L. Tolstoy is an invaluable contribution to the history of Russian literature. The senior reviewer-translator of the RCSC Vladimir Zimirev detailed on the exhibition materials.

The library of the RCSC provided for the exhibition works of Leo Tolstoy stored in the collections, which aroused great interest among children and adults.

The Presidential Library’s portal features electronic collection Leo Tolstoy (1828–1910), prepared for the 190th anniversary of the novelist, enlightener and thinker. The large-scale selection presents the work of the writer, including the first journal editions of the novels War and Peace and Anna Karenina, pedagogical and journalistic articles, correspondence, contemporaries' memories of him, studies, photographs and many other materials that give an idea of ​​the many-sided Leo Tolstoy’s personality and reflect the main aspects of his work and the attitude of Russian society towards him.
