New editions devoted to Vyborg will soon join the Presidential Library’s digital collection. This is a series of books ("Karelian Isthmus. Faith, Hope, Love", "Soviet Sport. Vyborg", "Harbor. Port. History of the Vyborg Port", "Originally from the province. History of the Vyborg Bank", "Lyceum. School. Gymnasium. History of the Vyborg Gymnasium”), which cover several stages in the history of the city at once - from the earliest times to the present day. The author - Dmitry Semenov, director of the center for the development of sports, cultural, scientific and social programs “Favorite Vyborg” – personally donated them to the Presidential Library’s collections.

These works are unique in their own way. They are not built according to the usual pattern of a history textbook or research study. The basis of the books is a rare material. Their main addressee, according to Dmitry Semenov, is modern youth: “My books tell about the history of the city of Vyborg, both in the Finnish, and in the Soviet and Russian periods. It turned out that these eras are closely intertwined. These are not purely historical works. I wanted to interest the modern reader, to make him read more about the history of our cities. That is why books have a minimum of numbers and a maximum of interesting facts that are often inaccessible. These are, for example, articles from old Finnish newspapers, anecdotes”.

The writer noted that the history of Russian cities - in this case, Vyborg - is an inexhaustible source of inspiration.
