Multimedia Contest of the Presidential Library enters final straight

The Presidential Library is completing "Foreign View" Annual International Multimedia Contest. Currently, about 600 people from 19 countries of the world participate in it. Residents of Italy, Greece, France, Israel, Turkey, China and other countries presented their photographs and video works to the jury. Most participants are from Russia, Belarus and Ukraine. About 2000 photographs and 50 video works are competing for the right to be called the best. However, their number may still increase – the entry deadline is January 14, 2019. The IX Multimedia Contest of the Presidential Library "Foreign View" is dedicated to the Year of the Volunteer in Russia and is held under the motto "Freedom to Support". It is worth noting that for the first time in the history of the project, works made by Russians in our country are being accepted.

Volunteering has practically no boundaries; everyone can find his own business and spend his time and energy to benefit the society. “Freedom to Support” nomination of the same name tells about people who do good unselfishly: support the needy, search for the missing, care for animals and much more. Photo portraits, photo stories and video works dedicated to volunteers are accepted for the contest.

“The World Without Borders” nomination is intended to tell about the activities of various organizations aimed at creating an accessible environment for people with disabilities, and the World Preserve nomination will unite photo and video works that demonstrate a person’s concern for the environment, show the role and place of people in conservation of biodiversity and ecological balance.

Materials from personal archives devoted to the sisters of mercy, participants of the Timur movement, donors, volunteers at the “construction sites of the century”, for example, the construction of the Baikal-Amur Mainline, are accepted to participate in the “History of the Volunteer Movement” nomination.

The special nomination “Victory Ball” dedicated to 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia continues. To take part in it are taken photographs and video filming of famous football commentators, players, highlights of matches and much more on football topics. You can also send photographs and video works taken during the preparation and conduct of the 2018 World Cup and other football competitions, reflecting the development of the infrastructure of Russian cities. Photographs and videos that show amateur and children's competitions, street football are welcome.

Very often bright photographs are stored on our mobile phone. These photographs or videos can be uploaded to Instagram with the tag #foreignview2018. The winner in the "Mobile Photo" nominations will be determined by the popular vote.

The participants of the project “Foreign View” will become a part of the world community, which annually creates for future generations a digital chronicle of the brightest events of our time. The best photographs will join the photo album, which along with the best video works will enrich the Presidential Library’s e-collections. In addition, the materials sent to the multimedia contest will be part of exhibitions at various cultural sites in Russia.
