
The exhibition "Photographers of Besieged Leningrad" opened at the Russian Center of Science and Culture in Chisinau
January 22, 2019, on the eve of the 75th anniversary of the complete liberation of Leningrad from the Nazi siege, the exhibition “Photographers of Besieged Leningrad” from the collection of the State Memorial Museum of Defence and Siege of Leningrad was opened in the Exhibition Hall of the Russian Center of Science and Culture in Chisinau.
The opening ceremony was attended by the staff of the Russian Embassy and the RCSC, members of the Coordination Council of Russian compatriots living in Moldova, and the main guests – survivors of Leningrad’s siege. The head of the Rossotrudnichestvo representative office Mikhail Davydov emphasized in his welcoming speech that the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the complete liberation of Leningrad from the Nazi siege testifies to the living memory of the heroic defenders of the city, its inhabitants and all those who, during the hardest years of the siege, ensured the work of Leningrad enterprises and the Road of Life.
The emotional memories of Lyudmila Alekseevna Alexandrova about the terrible and heroic days of the Nazi siege touched those present.
Attendees of the exhibition got familiar with unique photographs of ten famous Leningrad photographers who captured the city during the Great Patriotic War: V. S. Tarasevich, D. M. Trakhtenberg, V. G. Fedoseyev, R. A. Mazeleva, A. I. Brodsky, G. F. Konovalova, M. A. Trakhman, B. P. Kudoyarova, B. S. Losin, G. I. Chertov.
The Presidential Library’s portal features the electronic collection "Defence and Siege of Leningrad". The selection includes official documents, cards, leaflets, notes, memoirs, diaries, materials from personal archives, photogrpahs and newsreels, wartime newspapers, books, collections of articles, biographies, as well as scientific and fiction literature.
