Cadets of the Military Institute of the Armed Forces of Kyrgyzstan were told about the Battle of Stalingrad

A meeting timed to coincide with the 76th anniversary of the victory of the Soviet troops in the Battle of Stalingrad was held at the Russian Center of Science and Culture in Bishkek. The guests of the RCSC were cadets and teachers of the Hero of the USSR Lieutenant General K. Usenbekov Military Institute of the Armed Forces of the Kyrgyz Republic.

Opening the meeting, the head of the representative office of Rossotrudnichestvo in the Kyrgyz Republic, Viktor Nefyodov, noted the enormous historical significance of the Battle of Stalingrad as a radical change during the Great Patriotic War. The heroism and courage of the Soviet army, he stressed, stopped the enemy’s advance in a strategically important direction and brought the Victory closer.

Candidate of Historical Sciences, Vice-Rector for Information and Public Relations of the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University Leonid Sumarokov presented his scientific work "The Stalingrad Diary of Kyrgyzstan" and "Unity that defeated fascism". He spoke about the natives of the Kirghiz SSR who took part in the battle.

At the end of the meeting, the cadets watched the documentary “The Battle of Stalingrad”, which captured images of soldiers of the Great Victory within the military newsreel.

The Presidential Library’s portal features the collection “Memory of the Great Victory”, which includes a large number of electronic materials on the Battle of Stalingrad: video chronicles, memories of participants in the events, the Stalingradskaya Pravda issue for 1942-1943. Here are also presented rare books, wartime posters, photographs of the memorial on Mamayev Kurgan and much more.
