Days of Education and Science launched at the Russian Center of Science and Culture in Astana

February 7, 2019 the Days of Russian Education and Science launched at the Russian Center of Science and Culture in Astana.

This large-scale project was opened with the meeting of Kazakhstani applicants and students with representatives of St. Petersburg State University.

The guests of the RCSC learned about the main educational programs of the University, intellectual competitions for schoolchildren and students, as well as about the possibilities of entering one of the most prestigious universities in Russia.

“Our arrival in Kazakhstan coincided with the beginning of the celebration of the days of Russian science”, - said Alexander Babich, First Deputy First Vice-Rector for Academic and Methodological Work at St. Petersburg State University. - 2019 is declared by the United Nations as the Year of the Periodic table. A number of events dedicated to this event will be held at St. Petersburg State University: Mendeleev International School Chemistry Olympiad, II All-Russian Chemical Dictation, XXI Mendeleev Congress, satellite international conference for young scientists Mendeleev-2019. I hope that young specialists, students and schoolchildren from Kazakhstan will become participants in these major forums”.

The head of the representative office of Rossotrudnichestvo, Konstantin Vorobyov, spoke about the programs of the RCSC, timed to the Year of the Mendeleev’s Periodic table, and invited Kazakhstani schoolchildren to participate in numerous Olympiads and scientific competitions.

The Presidential Library’s portal features the electronic collection Dmitri Mendeleev (1834–1907), dedicated to the 185th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding Russian chemist and thinker Dmitri Ivanovich Mendeleev. The collection includes works of the scientist, correspondence, archival documents about his relatives, about scientific, pedagogical and social activity, research of the XX century about the scientific heritage of Dmitri Mendeleev, as well as visual materials.
