Creative contest "Behind Three Seas", dedicated to the 550th anniversary of the journey to India of Afanasy Nikitin summed up in Tver

February 13, 2019 the Grand Hall of the Gorky Tver Regional Research Library hosted a solemn award ceremony was held for the winners of the II regional creative contest for reading youth "Behind Three Seas", timed to the 550th anniversary of the famous journey to India Afanasy Nikitin. The event was held as part of the Tver Book Week - a large-scale book festival, one of the most significant events in the cultural life of the region, which the regional library has been organizing for the 25th time.

The initiator and organizer of the contest was the Tver Regional Center of Access to Information Resources of the Presidential Library, the partners were the Tver Branch of the Russian Historical Society and the Tver State United Museum.

The theme of the creative contest was an outstanding journey of the Tver merchant Afanasy Nikitin, the author of the first description of India in the 15th century, which went down in history as “Going beyond three seas”. Young talents competed in the nominations "Literary Activity", "Multimedia Technologies", "Visual arts".

It is worth noting that the contest has entered the international level - students from India and Sri Lanka studying at Tver State Medical University presented their works.

According to the results of the event, members of the jury - historians, local historians, artists, specialists in the field of computer technology - presented diplomas and souvenirs to the winners of the competition from Staritsa, Udomlya, Torzhok and Torzhok district, educational institutions of Tver.

Full-text electronic Gorky library was also enriched with local history publications on the topic of the contest, digital copies of two books were transferred to the Presidential Library.
