
Seminar focused on electronic resources held for students of the Sakhalin State University
“Electronic Resources for Students: Natural Sciences” seminar designed for second-year students of the Ecology and Nature Management Department of the Sakhalin State University was held on February 20, 2019 in the regional center of the Presidential Library, which is open in the Sakhalin Regional Universal Research Library. The participants learned about the basics of working in electronic libraries, such as the Presidential Library, the Russian State Library, BiblioRossica and others.
Users were registered in electronic libraries, they searched through and selected archival documents, audio and video materials, learned how to create bookmarks, copy and save fragments of electronic documents.
At the end of the seminar specialists of the department told students about “Dmitri Mendeleev (1834 - 1907)” collection of the Presidential Library. The collection is timed to coincide with the 185th anniversary of the birth of the renowned Russian chemist and thinker Dmitri Mendeleev. The collection consists of the scientist’s works, his correspondence; archival documents about his scientific, educational, and public activities, and visual materials.
The region is in the spotlight of the “Sakhalin Region: Pages of History” collection, which is available on the portal of the Presidential Library. Travel literature, geographical and historical descriptions of the middle 19th - early 20th cc. and newsreel fragments dating from 1929 highlight the development of Sakhalin Region, the only Russian region situated entirely on islands.
