Senior pupils of Brest were told about the partisan movement in Smolensk Region and in Polesie

The Russian Center of Science and Culture (RCSC) hosted another event from the series “Countering the falsification of the history of the Great Patriotic War” in Brest focused on the theme “Guerrilla movement during the Great Patriotic War in Polesie and Smolensk Region”.

The main hero of the meeting is veteran of the Great Patriotic War, a member of the partisan movement in the territory of Smolensk Region, Alexander Filippovich Grigoriev, shared with the senior pupils of school № 20 named after the hero of the Soviet Union D. M. Karbyshev and school № 31 memories of the war, about his fighting path, partisan movement Smolensk Кegion in general, and about what it was like for the children to face the horrors of the fascist occupation.

Methodologist of the RCSC Yuri Panasevich told students about the role of the partisan movement in the Great Patriotic War. Also, the guys learned a lot about the formation of the first partisan detachments under the leadership of V. Z. Korzh, T. P. Bumazhkov, F. I. Pavlovsky, S. A. Kovpak, A. F. Fedorov, A. N. Saburov, and others.

The event has been over with the viewing of the film “Partisans” from the documentary series “The Great War”.

The Presidential Library’s portal features the collection “Memory of the Great Victory”, which includes official documents, photo and newsreels, wartime newspapers, books, propaganda publications, collections of articles, biographies, testimonies of combatants and workers of the rear, their personal documents, images of military and labor awards, monuments and memorial complexes.
