Workshop on working with electronic resources held in the Sakhalin Regional Center of the Presidential Library

On March 21, 2019 the staff of the Sakhalin Regional Center of the Presidential Library hosted a workshop on electronic resources for students: the humanities for first-year students of Sakhalin State University.

The event participants learned about the basic rules for working with such electronic resources as the Presidential Library, the Russian State Library, BiblioRossika, Lan, electronic library systems, IPRbooks, the Elibrary.ru electronic library, and others. After registering, users searched and selected archival documents, audio and video materials, learned to create bookmarks, copy and save individual fragments of electronic documents.

At the end of the seminar, the department staff told the students about the digital collection of the Presidential Library “Konstantin Tsiolkovsky (1857–1935)”, which included publications and the life and career of the scientist, his works on the theory of air and star navigation, rocket production, astronomy, as well as philosophical and sci-fi works. In the Open Space collection, the participants of the event met with unique materials on the life and exploits of the legendary cosmonaut of the Hero of the Soviet Union Yuri Gagarin.

The website of the Presidential Library features the collection “Sakhalin Region: Pages of History”. The development of the territory of the only Russian region, completely located on the islands, is represented by travel sketches, geographical and historical descriptions of the middle of the XIX - early XX century, as well as fragments of the 1929 newsreel.
