"Devoted to Gogol ..." event held in the capital of Mongolia

April 1, 2019 the Russian Center of Science and Culture in Ulan Bator hosted an event "Devoted to Gogol ...", timed to the 210th anniversary of the birth of the great Russian writer.

The librarian of the center T. A. Vyalova told pupils of the school “Kirilitsa” about the life and work of Nikolai Gogol. She drew particular attention to the fact that the name of Gogol became known in Russian literature immediately after the publication of the book Evenings on a Farm Near Dikanka, and this collection put him in the first row of the great Russian writers.

The pupils also screened "Evenings on a Farm Near Dikanka", directed by A. Row. The film introduced schoolchildren to the Ukrainian way of life and speech as well as Christmas customs.

The participants of the event visited the book illustrative exhibition “Many Faces and the Mysterious” in the reading room of the RCSC library, where schoolchildren could learn more about other works by Nikolai Gogol.

The collection “Nikolai Gogol (1809-1852)”, which included digital copies of books, articles from periodicals, archival documents and graphic materials containing information about the life and work of the writer, the texts of his works is presented on the Presidential library’s portal.

For example, in the subsection of the collection “Illustrations to the Works of Nikolai Gogol” you can find works by one of the greatest Russian illustrators P. M. Boklevsky, who created the “Album of Gogol Types”, and in the subsection “Works of Nikolai Gogol in cinema and theater” in the roles of the Gogol characters famous Russian actors are presented.

The collection includes archival documents, books, periodicals, and pictorial materials from the collections of the Fundamental Library of the Herzen State Pedagogical University of Russia, the Zonal Scientific Library of the Ural Federal University, the Krupskaya Moscow Regional State Research Library, the Gorky Scientific Library of the St. Petersburg University and other sources.
