Penza students got familiar with the collection of the Presidential Library dedicated to the Romanov dynasty

On April 23, 2019 the Lermontov Penza Regional Library, based on the regional center of the Presidential Library, hosted a lesson for pupils of the 8th grade of school №19. The event was devoted to familiarity with the materials of the national electronic repository.

Specialists of the center told children about the Presidential Library’s collections, which contain digital copies of the most important documents on the history, theory and practice of the Russian statehood and the Russian language, and taught them to use a simple and advanced search on the portal of the institution.

Pupils got familiar with the collection “The Romanov Dynasty. Zemsky Sobor in 1613”, which includes about 900 units of storage. The guests of the center worked with the rarity edition of 1914 “Historical and cultural atlas of Russian history, compiled by N. D. Polonskaya” and answered questions about everyday life, cities, fleet, education during the reign of Catherine the Great. Employees of the electronic reading room told the children about the life and state activities of the empress, introduced them to other publications devoted to Catherine II, which are also presented in the Presidential Library.

In addition, pupils found out more about “Russia in the electronic world” interactive Olympiad, which the Presidential Library holds annually for senior pupils and answered the questions of last year’s Olympiad.

The Presidential Library’s portal features “Penza Region: Pages of History” collection. It includes archival documents, essays, studies and statistical materials covering demographic, geographical, socio-economic, socio-political and other aspects of the history of the region of the late 18th - first third of the 20th century. The Statute in force of Penza Region is also presented.
