The details of the military operation "Bagration" examined in Penza

On April 26, 2019, an event dedicated to the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders and the 75th anniversary of the Red Army’s operations “Bagration”, was held at the Lermontov Penza Regional Library.

Paying tribute to the soldiers-liberators, those present turned to the collection of the Presidential Library "Memory of the Great Victory", which included official documents, photo and newsreels, wartime newspapers, testimonies of combatants and workers of the rear, their personal documents. In the section “People’s Militia during the Great Patriotic War of 1941–1945” a separate block highlighted material on the underground and partisan movement in Belarus.

The participants of the event watched the documentary of the Presidential Library “Minsk. Hero City”, which tells about the Belarusian operation, and also studied electronic resources covering the stages of “Bagration” operation: the Memory of the People website, where 425,000 archival documents of the Red Army are presented, as well as the electronic exhibition “Liberation of Belarus”.

The Presidential Library’s portal features “Penza Region: Pages of History” collection. It includes archival documents, essays, studies and statistical materials covering demographic, geographical, socio-economic, socio-political and other aspects of the history of the region of the late 18th - first third of the 20th century.
